Randy Johnson is settling in as new pastor at First Baptist Church, Iola. But this is not his first time to live in Kansas…Randy actually served at FBC, Iola as youth minister from 1981-1984. He recently moved to Kansas from Republic, Missouri, where he previously served for six years as Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church.
Randy was a Junior at Southwest Baptist University when he felt God’s calling to full time ministry. He thought he “would end up doing recreation ministry or youth ministry, but God had other plans.” After graduating from SWBC with a Bachelor of Science degree he received a Master of Religious Education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. After several years as a youth minister things changed again! Then God’s direction led him into the full time pastorate at First Baptist Church, Kimberling, MO., where he served for 21 years before moving to Republic, MO.
Throughout his ministry Randy has been involved in Southern Baptist life, serving at the association, state, and national levels. He has served on the Executive Board of the Missouri Baptist Convention, the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention, and currently as a Trustee at Southwest Baptist University.
Randy is a native Missourian born and raised in St. Louis. He and his wife Janice have been married for 38 years. They have two grown sons, Josh and Jason, a daughter in law Bekah, and two grandchildren. Randy shared that he and Janice “are excited to be back in Kansas, anticipating God doing a great work.” Randy is “looking forward to getting to know those in the Association and serving with them in sharing the good news of the gospel.”
Thanks, Randy … we’re happy to have you with us!
