Join with First Southern Baptist Church, Topeka to welcome their new pastor, Doyle Pryor! Originally from Sand Springs, Oklahoma, his 30 years of pastoring include churches just south of us in Oklahoma cities like Okmulgee, Muskogee, Sapulpa and Norman.
It was at his home church, Olivet Baptist Church in Tulsa, where Doyle felt God’s call to ministry. Planning to be a bi-vocational minister, he enrolled in the University of Tulsa, majoring in pre-law; but he soon realized God had a different path for him. So, he transferred to Oklahoma Baptist University where he majored in business and pastoral ministry. As a student he had a love for evangelism and took the opportunity to serve with the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, traveling with other students around Oklahoma leading revival services. His passion for evangelism and reaching people led him to serve for seven years as a Trustee of the SBC International Mission Board. And now that passion brings him to Kansas. He is excited about being in Kansas: “We feel like it is God’s grace on us to be here in this place at this time,” Pryor remarks. Pastor Pryor also holds a MDiv from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He and his wife Sarah will celebrate their 28th wedding anniversary in July. Their oldest son, Ian is a junior at Oklahoma Baptist University, while their younger son Nathan will be a High School Senior.
